The Serpent (Frequency) in the Garden and on the Pole
(return to Fun Stuff)

There is much to be learned when the full essence of understanding associated with the serpent in the garden is realized. There are many levels of truth regarding the teachings associated with this serpent. It is the purpose of this study to add another dimension to our understanding.

The serpent is also depicted as a snake. A picture of a snake is easily recognizable as illustrated below:

The Strong’s Concordance defines the word “serpent” as “a snake from its hiss.” So the serpent or snake in the garden is recognizable because of a certain “sound.” The Webster’s Dictionary defines a hiss as an expression of scorn or contempt. The word “serpent” comes from a root word meaning to prognosticate or foretell. The word prognosis is derived from the word prognosticate. Merging these definitions allows us to see that the hiss of the serpent is actually a prognosis of contempt for our future. Doom and gloom prophesies far outnumber prophesies that proclaim LIFE, WHOLENESS, and RECONCILIATION for ALL.

Leaving the definition of the serpent let us now look at something that seems quite remote from what we are studying. Let’s look at sound or frequency. Below is an illustration of a sound wave:

It looks very similar to the picture of the snake!

We live in a sea of energy; and energy is movement. Even our thoughts are a form of energy. An electroencephalogram is an instrument that actually measures levels of brain frequency.

We can all relate to experiencing thoughts that uplift and thoughts that depress. We can all relate to hearing music that infuses us with life and music that we can’t wait to turn off.

It is well known that there are certain frequencies played at certain volumes which will harm the physical body. Following this logic it is easy to understand that there are also certain thoughts, (because even thoughts are frequencies) that bring discord to the triune man (spirit, soul, body).

Romans 1:21 speaks about futile thoughts that darken the heart, and in Matthew 12:34 we are told that “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” For the mouth to speak the “abundance of the heart” these “thoughts” must pass through the mind.

There is actually a part of our brain that is called the reptilian brain. But we'll save that for another study.

With the information we have gleaned thus far, let’s take another look at what happened in the garden. From previous teaching we understand that the separation of the woman from the man was a separation of energies or frequencies. The female principle (frequency) is separated out from the male principle (frequency) to allow for interaction between the two principles, but always in unity or oneness. It is also known that these principles or energies are within each of us, i.e. yang/yin, drive/receptivity, intellect/emotions, etc.

Returning to the garden we realize that the woman entertained a thought (frequency) that manifested as an intent to receive something that she believed she was lacking in…wisdom. The moment she entertained the thought of lack is the moment she “fell” into the lower dimension of illusion. The Illusion of Lack. She forgot that she was an exact image of God.

Notice that later when the Lord God walked in the garden Adam and his wife heard his SOUND but they hid themselves. They hid because they were now living in the realm of duality. In that realm there are always opposites. Adam now saw himself as separate from his wife; no longer one flesh. When questioned about eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (duality) he replied, “The woman whom You gave to be with me…etc.” He now sees himself as separate from her and tries to place blame. The two principles (frequencies) are now inharmonious.

It is important to realize that we are not talking about a literal garden, but the garden of our mind. The scripture reveals that we are God’s garden and Christ is the husbandman. Disharmony came through the first Adam but harmony came through the second Adam, who restored the remembrance of Christhood to everyone… each in his/her own time. All the fragments are gathered so that nothing is lost… only forgotten for a season.

Now let’s look at the serpent held up on a pole in the wilderness. In Numbers 21 we see the Israelites journeying by the Way of the Red Sea and becoming impatient and discouraged. It is interesting to note that the color red is associated with the base chakra or the survival instinct. When this instinct is separated unto itself and not balanced by the other chakras it is very selfish, fearful, and lustful.

The Israelites now began to speak against God and Moses and fear that they were going to die in the wilderness. Remember, previously, we learned that the sound of the serpent was a hiss, and that meant to entertain thoughts of contempt or scorn for the future. Because of their contempt fiery serpents were sent among them. Eventually though, they repented (changed their minds) and ask that the serpents be taken from them. Moses was then instructed by the Lord to “make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”

What can the meaning to this possibly be? We learn through analogy. And the analogy of ascending and descending is used quite frequently. So… to look up is to ascend in consciousness and to look down is to descend in consciousness.

Placing the serpent that lives in the dust (lower realm) on a pole is analogous to raising ourselves out of the lower survival realm and “lifting our heads” or ascending into a realm of higher understanding. It is raising our frequency. It is moving out of the realm of duality or lack and realizing that we lack in nothing. We are exhorted in Matthew 6 to take no thought or care for tomorrow.

The idea of taking “no thought” is very interesting because it is the realm of silence. Silence is the backdrop of all frequencies, audible and inaudible. Sound is indecipherable without the backdrop of silence.

“Be still and know that I am God.”

Manifestation exists because of the interaction of silence and sound.

In like manner, the realm of light would not exist without darkness; there would be no backdrop for the stars (light).

“I will give you the treasures of darkness.”

“I form the light and create darkness.”

So… in a nutshell this is what we have learned:

We are whole, harmonious, in rest… We are SOUND doctrine…
(These are all musical terms)
